The metal pieces of a rifle can be particularly sharp on bare hands, especially in cold weather. Avoid injury by taping over all exposed metal including swivels and strap screws with electrical tape before the season begins.
1/4″ PVC available from your local hardware store works great for inexpensive swing flag poles you can cut to any custom size!
Don’t Use PVC for your standard size flag pole. The inherent flexibility creates unnecessary strain on the wrist which could lead to injury.
No budget for new flags? Try reaching out to other local coaches. Many have closets full of unused flags they’d be happy to loan or sell and you’ll start to build a great local network at the same time!
Taping a pole for effect? Save tape and create a smoother surface by taping the pole in long strips lengthwise rather than taping spirally around the pole.
