Team WGC, Color Guard SPIN for the Cure is BACK and this year we’re on FACEBOOK!

Since Spring 2006, team WGC – Colorguard SPIN for the Cure has been representing the color guard community in the Komen National Race for the Cure in Washington D.C. each June in the fight against breast cancer!  To date, we’ve been able to raise over $10,000 through the hard work and generosity of friends, family and members of the color guard community.

We’ve done this with only a handful of participants up to this point, primarily from the Northern Virginia area.

THIS YEAR WE HOPE TO EXPAND OUR INITIATIVE AND MAKE TEAM WGC A NATIONWIDE PROJECT!

If you are on facebook, join our facebook group and show your support!  Help us spread the word about this important project by inviting your friends, students, and family members to join our group as well!

Official registration has not yet begun – our team should be officially registered sometime this month and then we’ll send out word through the facebook group and through this website.

You don’t have to live in the D.C. area to support Team WGC!  The National Race for the Cure has many options for participation including joining the team as a non-walking member and a “sleep-in for the cure” event.  You can even join the team and help us raise money even if you can’t attend the walk.  You can also make a donation if you can’t join the team.  Or you can simply help us spread the word by joining our facebook group and asking everyone you know to join us as well.  That will help us to get the word out and hopefully be able to raise even more money for this important cause.  We’ve already passed $10,000, maybe this year we can up that to $15,000!

For those who are within participation distance, we will have a meeting place on the National Mall the morning of the walk, June 7, 2008.  We’ll have t-shirts you can purchase and perhaps even flags to carry to show your support (the race always has a sign contest and many groups carry signs, posters, or banners).  Most of our participants choose to walk, however there are a few runners out there as well.  Bring your families!  It’s really a fun and inspirational experience!

Thanks for taking time to read this article and please stop by and join our facebook group!  Let’s show the world how much color guards care!  Together we can make a HUGE difference!
