Halftime Magazine celebrates 1-year!

My thoughts and reflections on Halftime Magazine’s first year in print!

Many of you probably know that I write a technical column for Halftime Magazine’s “Sectionals” department.  I’ve also written 2 additional articles and am working on a third.

For those that may not be familiar with Halftime yet, it’s a magazine dedicated to the marching arts!  It debuted in July 2007 and has just celebrated it’s first year anniversary!  This is a big milestone in the life of any magazine.  Here you can read an article in MarketWatch about the anniversary including information about the publisher and the magazine’s mission.  “Halftime Magazine Celebrates One Year of the Sights, Sounds and Spirit of the Marching Arts .”

Please consider visiting their website and checking out the latest issue at www.halftimemag.com .   There is also an essay contest going on where four students were chosen as finalists.  You can read their essays about what marching band has meant to them and vote on which essay you think is the best.  The winner receives an individual prize as well as a prize for his/her entire band!

I am so glad we now have Halftime Magazine to celebrate the marching arts!  And I’m so grateful I’ve had the opportunity to contribute this first year.  Congratulations to Halftime and to publisher Christine Ngeo Katzman and her staff on the first year anniversary!   I hope everyone will consider subscribing and lending your support to Halftime in it’s second year of showcasing our fantastic world of the marching arts!
